THE TAMIYA KUMAMON BATTLE
With the majority of radio control products produced overseas, there are instances when products are developed specifically for other markets, but are sold worldwide. In this article I introduced the Kumamon Bear RC car to the US market. Kumamon is the mascot of a province in Japan used to draw tourists. After research, we used the mascots playful nature conveyed to tourists to create exciting games that could be played with anywhere by anyone.
TOY BOAT BUILD-OFF
As editors it is our job to motivate the hobbyist to explore their own creativity using products in the hobby and beyond. In the unconventional Toy Boat Build-off article we showed readers it was possible to take a kids toy and turn it into a potent water speedboat with some time, hobby products and, of course, the unlimited budget of an adult with a passion for model hobbies.
GEICO PR EVENT
Horizon Hobby Distributors partnered with Geico and the Miss Geico racing team to promote their new radio control boat to hobby enthusiasts. As part of the promotion, the racing team displayed their boat along with the radio control models at boating events across the country. In this article I reported on one of the promotional events in Texas and interviewed the throttle-man of the Miss Geico racing boat.
